I picked this image because they all looked really happy and excited.

Ellen was the Oscars host in 2014 and she went into the crowd wanting to take a picture. Bradley Cooper held the phone and took the photo. Ellen then posted it on Twitter and it was the most retweeted photo in history with 3 million retweets. Ellen also used the photo for advertisement for Samsung because thats what phone they used.

Bradley went up to them and he told Ellen that he could take the photo of them and he said he ruined her plan at first because she's wanted selfie and she told him to get in it and he took the photo because he had the longest arms.

1. Why did you pick this image? What caught your eye?
I chose this photo because it is really sad to see that many soldiers dying to save our country.

In 1991 the U.S. government banned news organizations from photographing pictures this these because it is violating the families privacy. In April 2004 , 700 U.S troops had been killed in Iraq and they were returning home in coffins with US flags dropped over them. As Tami Silicio, working for a cargo company in Kuwait, was moved by what she saw, she got her camera out and took a photo of these coffins. She emailed the photo to a friend in US who then sent it to a photo editor at the Seattle Times. With Silicio's permission, the Times put the photo on their front cover. It started rage and Silicio was fired from her job. After this many felt that these pictures should be exposed, in 2009 during Barak Obama's first year office, the Pentagon lifted the ban.

1. Why did you pick this image? What caught your eye?
I chose this image because I saw a soldier in the water with objects around him and I was wondering why the soldier was low in the water.

Huston Riley was a Private First Class who jumped into the water after the Nazis shelled his landing craft. He had to stay under the water as long as possible until he couldn't breathe anymore. Robert Capa took this photo of him when he was at the surf, Capa spent an hour and a half on the battlefield and he watched as men around him were dying. A courier transported his four rolls of film to LIFEs London offices. Most of the film showed no images after they got processed. The ones that were there give us a memory of D-Day.

Caps the photographer had been to many wars before but not as big of wars as D-Day. John G. Morris was Robert Capa's photo editor, he waited all day Tuesday and Wednesday for Capa's film to be delivered. The first three rows of film were ruined but Morris ordered for all of the other photos to be printed. To take this photo Capa had to turn his back on the action to face Riley, it showed how brave and courageous Capa was. LIFE gave people the news about everything that was happening because there was no TV's yet.

Fashion Photography
1. The changes that were made in Photoshop were made the neck longer, made her eyes bigger, made neck thinner, moved the shoulders down, made the face thinner, changed pieces of her hair, the lips got bigger, and changed her eye color to blue.
2. the changes that were made in Photoshop are made skin clear, made eyes bigger, lifted her shoulder up, made legs longer, made arms longer, changed her skin color lighter, made the neck longer, changed her pupils, made her face thinner, nose got smaller, and lips were more defined and darker.
3. The changes they made in Photoshop are made the whole body thinner, made her hair longer, moved her forehead up, moved the butt up, made her look brighter, head got smaller, mades the back arch more, and added bangs with the extra hair.
4. Is it ethically acceptable to change a person's appearance like these in a photo? Why or why not?
I think it can be in some situations. I think a little bit is okay but not to where they look like a barbie doll or a total different person because then your showing someone your not and that's not okay.
5. Are there circumstances in which it would be more ethically wrong to do this type of manipulation?
If you are going to be put on a billboard or on a poster for any advertisement or on a commercial that is advertising something that would be like make up or weight loss or anything like that because once again you would be lying to everyone.

The type of changes that are okay are making the eyes bigger, lifting to make somethings little longer, and changing the lighting.

Leave a lot of space in the background or on the side of the photo. Break the rules of photography, and tilt the horizon line.

I saw different spiral staircases and they were all abandoned. They all looked broken down and gross, some of the staircases were circular while others were rectangular.

Magazine Part 2
On your blog, write a short (50-150 word) explanation of what the main attributes of each of the four types are. Use your own words, and DO NOT copy and paste.
Cover types
1. Image Based- This is the most common type of magazine cover with normally one or more people on the cover. The person or people on the magazine will usually sell the issue. For a travel magazine the photography includes the foot, meal, or a landscape for the cover. The big thing is that the photography needs to correspond with the style of the publication.
2. Illustration Based- This way is to give the audience something funny or unusual. There aren't a lot of magazines who go for illustrated covers so the ones that do, don't have to rely on newsstand sales. Most magazines go for computer generated illustrations.
3. Type Based- This style is rare but not as much as illustrated covers. The way the typing looks makes the audience understand what is happening better than with picture. This way gives a powerful message is the way the type is written and how it presents words.
4. Concept Based- This style can be a mix of all three styles from above. It presents a strong or funny message. You normally see this is business magazines, news weekly, or independent magazines.

My favorite cover
"This cover story by Michael Pollen argues that while we have been obsessed with eradicating germs, there are health advantages to being exposed to them. The cover shot by Hannah Whitaker of a baby being licked by a dog makes graphic the prevalence of germs in our everyday lives."
On this magazine cover, I like how the colors are and how there isn't like neon colors. There isn't too much going on in the background which is good but I also feel like there should be more teasers and the ones that they do have should be a little bigger, so it is easier to read from far away. I think the dog and the bad will attract a lot of viewers because a lot of people like dogs because they are cute animals. The baby is also cuter then like an older child. I think the dog licking the baby will get people to buy the magazine more.

- Your computer screen has vivid colors and when you print it out, the colors will turn dull.
- If the cover pops out from its background, lease it alone.
- Your computer screen has its own scales so it will never be the same size as it would be in person, so you have to make an accurate guess.

Portrait assignment: For this assignment I will take a photo of my friends stunt group or a picture of my friends doing a handstand because this will express what we both love to do and what we get up every morning to do. I will take it at Texas Power Athletics, the cheer gym I go too. To make the shot successful I will shoot them when they are still and not moving and I will make sure I have the correct aperture, ISO, and shutter speed on the correct numbers.

American Soldier
A. What is the most powerful image from the pictures printed in the Denver Post over the three weeks they published images from the year of coverage? Why?
The most powerful image is the one where Fisher is in the divers seat of the Humvee, because he normally doesn't sit right there so it shows courage and bravery as he has to drive through Diwaniyah.
B. How do the images work together to tell a story?
The images work together to tell a story because you can tell the emotion in the photo and the mood each person is feeling.
C. How do the captions enhance the photographs?
The captions enhance the photos because they give you more detail about what is happening and it helps you understand what the problem is or what is going throughout the process.
D. Summarize the story of Ian Fisher, based just on the captions.
Ian Fisher joins the army at age 17, right after high school. He joined the delayed entry program to help him get better prepared. Before leaving he meets with a Sargent at the Army recruiting office, also his family and friends throw him a party before leaving. He has to get a medical exam before he can officially go. A recruiter comes to pick up Fisher at his house, to go to basic training for 14 weeks. He arrives to basic training on June 22, 2007 at Fort Benning, Ga. He hurts his elbow on the second day of training and it could've disqualified him but he talked to the commander and he was allowed to stay. A group of guys had to talk to Fisher's bunkmate because he was causing trouble and had bad attitude and everyone else was punished for it. By week eight on August 16 2007 the troops are hit by an improvised explosive device, the sergeant said that it would've killed half of the troops. Ian plus four other guys are allowed to keep going. Basic training gets harder as they have field exercises and mock attacks, they also had to march ten miles will each member was carrying 65 pounds of equipment with different drills along the way. He goes home for a weekend and takes his girlfriend ring shopping. When he goes back he gets an ankle injury and has to sit out out for some of the training. He goes to his dads house on March 8, 2008, his dad talks to him about using drugs (muscle relaxations and pain medications) and how he needs to stop. Fisher gets mad and says its better than coke or ecstasy. Ian has counseling with two Sergeants and he tells them about his drug use, they were about to kick him off but they gave him another chance and they are sending him to a new platoon and dropping him in rank. Fisher and his dad bond at the PX at Fort Carson on September 1, 2008 when his family is getting ready to drop him off so he can deploy to Iraq. His dad, a Vietnam veteran told him to not go down without a fight even if something goes wrong. He deploys on September 3, 2008 for one whole year in Iraq. Ian drives the Humvee through Iraq, he says if people get in your way, you just have to keep driving and drive with violence. Him and lieutenant hang up christmas lights in the platoons operations center. He finally gets to come home and he says it was really cold back home compared to Iraq. Ian said he learned a lot of life lessons while he was in the army. He gets married to Devin on August 24, 2009.

Because it gives you just enough information and a visual to look at.
H. If you can create a story with just photos and captions, why bother writing a story at all?
